Space and the history of its exploration combined with the handcrafted art of relief printing are the cores of Yuki Io's Space Art.
The process of carving reliefs by hand enables the artist to create special and individual structures and haptics.

In order to achieve my intended high quality level the entire traditional process is done by hand in various stages. This includes the design, the carving of the printing plates, the mixing of the different colours, as well as the actual print - all in a completely handcrafted way.
handcarved
By using the reduction print technique the design is carved into the linoleum of the printing plate.
For every additional colour the linoleum of the same printing plate is "reduced" even more.
handmixed
The process of mixing the colours can take up to several hours or even days until every single colour fits exactly and they all harmonise perfectly.
handprinted
The mixed colours are applied to the carved printing plate. It takes several exactly executed steps to print these onto the mould-made cotton paper.
